Lewis brings a new season for 2008

Reitz High School has always been consistent about keeping traditions alive and well. And even though this upcoming football season will be a change of coaches, the traditions are going to stay true to the west side, through and through.
Mr. Tony Lewis, brother to the well known math teacher at Reitz, Mr. Tege Lewis, will be the new coach for the 2008 season and many more to come. However, Lewis isn’t new to the west side. In ’92, Lewis came to Reitz as a coach for girls’ softball and track. He was even an assistant coach for the football team for 10 years. But what is it about Reitz that made him want to come back?

Reitz’s new football coach, Tony Lewis, meets in the IMC to introduce himself to his new team. He came all the way from Wheelsburg, Ohio back to his youth at Reitz High where he was a former assistant coach.

Lewis received his bachelor degree in education at Indiana University and his masters from USI. He was previously a history and social studies teacher, but he will now be teaching physical education at Reitz.

He won’t officially join the Reitz staff until March 10, but it is obvious that he will be welcomed with opened arms.

The History Of The Dynasty

If you are unfamiliar with the title “Dynasty” it is
referring to the highly anticipated athletic talents
of the class of 2008.  Specifically a group of
football players who started their brotherly bond as
far back as when they first began playing the game.
The west side’s Evansville Junior Football League is
where the majority of our boys learned to love
football. From there they moved on to play Reitz Cub,
and history began.
    “Playing cub in the eighth grade we went undefeated
and we realized we were the best.” says senior Moose
Campbell, ” But the moment that really made people
notice what potential we had was freshman year when we
beat Heritage Hills 34-0.  That year, Heritage Hills
was ranked number one in state and they were
undefeated, until they faced us” continued Campbell.
    So how exactly did the title Dynasty come about?
