Click!  That is the sound our televisions make when we all tune into our favorite TV shows. There is something comforting about getting decked out in our pajamas, cooking popcorn, and settling in on the couch for a quality night of American television. However, everyone’s choices in TV shows differ; some of us like to indulge in familiar game shows while others are glued to the more modern shows. Our favorite and most hated part of a TV series is the season finale. The season finale can either tie up loose ends, or introduce questions that will be answered in the upcoming season. The question is – Which show’s return are you most looking forward to in September 2011?

You can ask multiple kids at F.J. Reitz what their favorite show is lately and a lot of them will tell you Glee. Glee is a TV series based around a glee club, or choir, at a high school. The characters go through all the normal high school drama situations that teenagers deal with on a daily basis, and this is why Glee is rapidly becoming a favorite amongst high school teens. Teens are also attracted to the music part on the show because not many sitcoms involve music as a big part of their storyline.

One of the biggest ‘Gleeks’ at Reitz would have to be junior Taylor Bogard.“I like Glee because it’s different. I mean, how often do you see teen shows that revolve around music nowadays? And not to mention the plots are always interesting and done top-notch by the actors, who are equally as amazing.” Bogard has been watching Glee since day one, and can’t wait for the new season to start.

As always, we’re all excited about Family Guy and American Dad! returning this fall. At school, it’s impossible to go through a day without hearing someone make a Family Guy or American Dad! reference. The less popular Cleveland Show is also returning this September. These shows are refreshing; you don’t have to constantly keep up with them because there is no real storyline, and they’re just pure comedy. Some people like to argue that shows like Family Guy are inappropriate, but they’re hard to resist. Creator Seth MacFarlane really knows how to make people laugh themselves to tears. MacFarlane was inspired to create Family Guy from shows with similar humor such as The Simpsons (also coming back in September). Not only does MacFarlane write Family Guy and American Dad!, but he also does a lot of the voices for the characters. MacFarlane is a very talented individual who can get easy laughs out of just about anyone in any age group.

Sophomore Lynsie Overton prefers Family Guy. “I like how the show makes so many references to a lot of other things and makes it funny.”

Another show’s return that excites teens is The Middle. The Middle is a show about the dysfunctional Heck family that lives in Indiana (go figure). This show centers on your typical worn-out mother trying to steer her family in the right direction despite the many humorous mishaps that occur throughout their lives. This fictional family will definitely make your family seem closer to normal. This show is much underestimated, however; it is a very awesome show. The misadventures of this Indiana family will have you laughing over and over again.

Teenagers are hopelessly in love with television; it’s inevitable. We’ve come a long way from black-and-white- TVs with 3 channels. Some teens like to watch serious shows like the CSI franchise while others look forward to the new season of Dancing with the Stars, and who can forget The Office? Two and a Half Men will also be returning for their first season without Charlie Sheen this September. It’s very uncertain what TV shows that come out will appeal to teenagers, but what is certain is that there is a show out there for everyone; it’s just a matter of finding one that you like!
