senior Mackenzie Wallace brings the ball up the court during a varsity Girl's basketball game.

How do you think the team has changed from last season to this one?
Well we shoot the ball a lot more than we used to. We play run and gun style as coach Schell would say. We shoot a lot more 3’s and try to get a shot off within 10-15 seconds of having possession of the ball.

How do you think coach Schell has helped you specifically?
He’s helped me become a better ball handler and shooter. he tells us to play hard and to not give up. He always wants us to give our best efforts when we’re out there on the court.

With the run and gun style Schell’s played, did u all have to go through increased conditioning during practice?
Not really, conditioning has always been the same for the most part. sometimes some people have to run more for drills that they’ve lost, but overall it’s stayed pretty much about the same.

Have you noticed the fast paced play having an affect on your opponents?
Yeah, I think our style works pretty well. we sub every minute and a half to 2 minutes so we’ve always got fresh legs to get us going. we also press a lot so that helps too. we get a lot of shot opportunities.

Are there a few players who seem to have improved from last season or seem to thrive under the run and gun system?
Sarah fox gets to shoot a lot of 3’s with the new system and our bigs, Abbi and Karns, do a great job rebounding, posting up and getting shots off from inside.

Are you planning on playing basketball anywhere next year?
I kind of thought about it a couple of years ago but i decided to just stick with soccer in college. two sports would be a lot to handle, but i know that I’m going to miss it.
