One American teenager dies every 42 minutes in the United States from drug related causes, according to .

Red Ribbon week will bring awareness to startling facts about drugs such as this and educate students about drugs to help prevent drug use across America.

Red Ribbon week is officially the last full week of October. Reitz, although, will be celebrating it the first full week, 2nd through the 6th, of November.

It is sponsored by RHS Teen Power this year. Mrs. Paula Harmon, Heather Baily, Jamie Kuebler, and Estee Williams are guiding the Teen Power club in the process.

Red Ribbon Week is the largest and oldest drug prevention campaign in the country. The week of drug awareness’s ultimate goal is to create a drug free America, starting with its youth.

Reitz has many different programs and activities which help support a drug free student body. These activities will provide helpful information about Indiana and our region regarding drug use.

The difference this year about the educational week is the area of focus. Instead of providing students with nationwide statistics, it will be focused more on Indiana’s statistics and the local region’s. This will allow students to be given information which they can relate to. This change was made in hopes of increasing awareness and increasing the impact of the week on students.
