Local bands really can ROCK!

If you’ve ever been to a concert, you know what it feels like to be there. The band is playing songs you’ve never heard of, and the lyrics and sounds are entering your mind, so it is as if those lyrics and sounds are the only things that you know. The bass drum pulses through your veins, the guitar pulling at the strings of your heart, and the lead singer’s voice is rather enchanting, pulling you in. In those few minutes, or few hours, you can get lost to the groove of the music and feel weightless.

Of course, we have concerts here in Evansville such as Taylor Swift, Three Days Grace, and Daughtry, but if you want something of a smaller scale with the same weightless feeling, attend a local show provided by one of Evansville’s several local venues, including Boney June’s, iCafe, and the new Wired. These venues provide places where bands can perform in front of a crowd and get their names known.

These music venues are not subjected to one certain genre, either. Sounds of Laughter consider themselves hardcore punk. The Soylent Coil, consisting of band members who consider themselves a polka/experimental genre. Stereo Shout Out, a local band, consider themselves a powerpop/electronica/pop punk genre.

Despite their differences in genres, they all have one thing in common. They have a passion for music.
