For juniors and seniors, prom is the ultimate end of the year dance. It’s a night for fun, friends, and excitement. But it usually turns out to be a night of scandal and tears. By following these simple rules, your prom night will be one to remember for the better, not for the worse.

The first thing that girls tend to go over board with for prom is makeup. Some girls come to prom looking like a totally different person or resemble their favorite circus character. Just look in the mirror before you leave. Another thing girls should avoid is short dresses. Nobody wants to see really short dresses. So if it reaches any higher than 3 inches above your knee, you should consider a different dress. Also, you should buy a dress that flatters your figure. There are thousands of dresses out there and at least one will look great on you. So don’t settle for anything that doesn’t look good. White dresses are always seen at prom. Although they may look pretty, be careful of what undergarments you wear. White is a revealing color and if your not careful everyone will be able to see everything.
Think for yourself when it comes to the color of your dress. Just because your best friends are wearing pink doesn’t mean that you have to. Coordinating just looks dumb at prom. Nothing is more annoying that showing up to prom and seeing somebody in the same dress. If you shop at stores like Magic Moments that won’t sell your dress to anyone going to the same prom as you, then this won’t be a problem.
Most girls find having a “Florida tan” for prom a good idea. Unfortunately, most of these girls end up looking like our favorite orange Willy Wonka friends. If you decide to tan, make sure it looks real and not like a crayon.
When getting ready for prom, make sure that you add an extra layer of deodorant. It will be hot in there and nobody wants to smell your BO.
One thing that can ruin any prom night is drama. The last thing anybody wants to see when they go into the bathroom are 15 girls crying their eyes out. So, leave the drama at the door and enjoy your prom night. In order to avoid drama, one simple rule to follow is don’t ditch your prom date. You made a commitment to go with them so stick with it! Another problem that could be encountered at prom are girls that put their hands all over another girls date. If it’s not your date, keep your hands to yourself. Also, don’t show a lot of PDA at prom. Nobody wants to see you groping your hunny on the dance floor. Nothing is as annoying as fake friends. At prom, girls who don’t even know each other act like long lost sisters. Just because we’re at prom doesn’t mean we’re best friends.
Dinner is an important part of prom, but be careful where you go. Nobody looks good with spaghetti sauce all over their white tux. Also, make sure you have a mint or gum for after dinner. Even if it doesn’t look like it has garlic it’s better to be safe than gross everyone out.
Every year a clan of underclassmen can be seen trying to sneak their way into prom. If you don’t have a date and you’re an underclassmen, don’t even try to get into prom. It’s for juniors and seniors and we’ve earned this privilege. Also, if you are a junior at prom, don’t complain about the facilities.
When getting refreshments at prom, make sure you throw your trash away. Nobody wants to dance or walk through spilt punch or cookies. It isn’t hard to find a trash can so please put your trash in one.
Prom can be a fun night. If you follow these simple steps, yours will be a great night.
